Subject: Digitization of Historic Maps by USGS

I recall hearing somewhere that the USGS is digitizing (or has plans to
digitize) some of its older maps--particularly its 15' quads and geological map
portfolios. Does anyone know anything more definite about this and who to
contact about USGS activities in this area? Those of us who are interested in
digitizing old maps on the state and regional levels need to know what the
various Federal agencies are doing.
