I attended the International Map Trade Association show here in Denver
last week. I went to 2 sessions regarding gov't publications. The first
was a gripe session between map dealers and USGS. I learned a thing or
two: USGS has assigned ISBNs to ALL its publications (topos, bulletins,
professional papers, etc.). If i understood it correctly, USGS will in
the next 18 months publish updated copies of the "Catalog of topographic
and other published maps"--the brown books. The dealers (and I) were
very pleased to hear this.
