The WSL received legislative direction AND MONEY AND FTEs to design
and/or adapt a Government Information Locator System (GILS) into a pilot
project. A GILS
system is a sort of description/locator system (much like a cataloging
system) designed specifically for government documents and other data.

The funds and timing of the pilot project is for one year, beginning July 1,
1996, through June 30, 1997.

We are hiring first for a PROJECT MANAGER. The successful person will be
highly experienced in planning, implementing, evaluating, and forecasting
next steps for, a complex electronic-based information system.
Successful completion of effective projects is the most important
attribute we seek.

State Merit System classifications suggest the closest fit is a "Computer
Information Systems Specialist 1." this is a person with a business,
public administration, or similar background, supplemented by 6 years +
of experience in systems/programming (2 years as project manager).
Additional education/experience desirable. The salary is excellent and
we will be offering full state benefits.

Time is of essence, and although we will keep the recruitment open until
we are successful, we desire an immediate hire.

PLEASE RE-POST THIS NOTICE AS WIDELY AS YOU LIKE. If you are, or if you
know, a promising candidate, and/or would like to know more, let me
know. This will be an exciting and valuable project for Washington
libraries; WSL is pleased to be able to take the lead in making it happen.
