JOB DESCRIPTION:
 
The Institute of the Americas, based in La Jolla, California, is
looking for a bright, hardworking person with Spanish and/or
Portuguese and some geology background, to fill a program position
that is open immediately.  Only people with fluent Spanish and/or
Portuguese should apply.  Job involves organizing seminars and
conferences in the United States and Latin America for senior
executives and business people in mining, environment and water
sectors, but with primary focus in the short-term on mining.
Associate Director would report o Vice President and Director of
Research.
 
The Institute of the Americas is a non-profit organization dedicated
to promoting investment in infrastructure in Latin America as a
catalyst for economic growth and development.  Mining is one of
our newer sectors, but we have a series of programs planned for
1999.  Salary is based on experience and qualifications, ceiling
of $35,000 to begin.  Good promotion possibilities, based on
development of sectoral programs and revenues.
