Subject: Re: Suva in the 19th century (fwd)

I did some research into this and came up with the following:

     B.A. 1660 Suva harbor 1:12,000 published 05/27/77 (1985 ed on issue)
     B.A. 1673 Western approaches to Suva Harbor 1:50,000 04/19/85
B.A. 1674 Eastern approaches to Suva Harbor 1:50,000 engraved 1976
     B.A. 167 Kandavu Island & passage 1:142,000 engraved May 20, 1878
               large corrections to 03/03/39

After looking at all the above I went to my trusty old U.S.
Hydrographic Office index and found H.O.2865 which later became DMA
83605 and was canceled in Notice to Mariners 24/86. This is actually
"from a British Survey in 1896" (scale not indicated but probably
1:20,000 or thereabouts) issued by the H.O. on 02/16/17. Titled simply
"Suva Harbor (Tombako Suva)" this would be the best chart for your
19th century needs. Let me know if you want a copy and I'll send you
an honest-to-god large format paper copy (and charge it to Larry
     Cruse).

Subject: Suva in the 19th century

Does anyone have a 19th-century Admiralty chart of Suva (Fiji) that they
could provide a good photocopy or photograph of?

Thanks.
