Job description:
This is time limited professional work through September 30, 2000,
designing, implementing and managing geographic information system
(GIS)
projects. Continuation of this position is contingent upon Governing
Board
approval. Duties include: developing, analyzing, maintaining,
revising, and
performing quality assurance on ground water models and maps for high
water
recharge area (blue belt) delineation project; designing programs and
implementing GIS modeling of the GWP GIS library to integrate regional
modeling with county specific recharge analysis; calibrating GIS data
for
ground water flow models; inputting data types including well
information,
topography, geology, and hydrogeologic layers; providing GIS support
to
modification of the Prime Recharge Mapping Project; coordinating with
intergovernmental coordinators and county project manager to schedule
GIS
projects and determine designs, time frames, and monitor progress and
ensure project requirements are met; providing GIS support for
technical
assistance to local government, and other projects as required;
generating
and maintaining ground water recharge maps based on data from the USGS
 and
other sources; assisting and training District staff on ground water
recharge mapping and database use, recommending training for staff;
and
assisting in evaluating software and making recommendations regarding
use.
Qualifications include: a bachelor's degree in a computer, planning,
physical, natural, engineering science or related field and two years
of
experience in geographic information system analysis and cartographic
design using ARC/INFO or equivalent software; or an associate degree
in
computer science or a technical program directly related to GIS and
four
years experience as described above. Professional experience as
described
above may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college
