The Dartmouth College Library seeks a dynamic reference-bibliographer with a
specialization in government documents and maps for   the Baker Humanities &
Social Sciences Library .
 
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Humanities & Social Sciences Librarian,
works as a member of an information services team providing general and
specialized reference services in an innovative and technically sophisticated
environment utilizing  the Dartmouth Online Catalog, the campus wide
information system (DCIS),  RLIN and OCLC. Responsibilities include
administrative leadership, collection management, and promotion of both U.S.
documents and the map collection; general reference, assisting users with an
extensive collection of CD-ROMs; online searching; instruction in GIS;
bibliographic instruction;  and supervision of fhe Documents Center and the Map
Room.
 
QUALIFICATIONS: ALA/MLS; a minimum of two years post-MLS experience in
reference, U. S.  documents   and maps  in an academic or special library; and
educational background in the social sciences are required. The successful
candidate  will have   knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for the use of
electronic information resources; familiarity with census and other statistical
data; experience with geographic information systems; strong interpersonal
skills; ability to work collegially in small group and team environments; and
proven supervisory skills .
 
RANK AND SALARY: Rank and salary commensurate with experience and
qualifications with a minimum salary of $27,500 for Librarian I or $29,500 for
Librarian II.  Full benefits package including 22 vacation days; comprehensive
health care; TIAA/CREF; and relocation assistance.
