Subject: GEBCO Digital Atlas

Is anyone familiar with the digital edition of the General
Bathymetric Chart of the Oceans (GEBCO) Digital Atlas (GDA)?

It uses DOS software and I'm interested in whether it will run, fully
functional, under Windows NT 4.0.

Also, the web site says that the contours can be exported in vector
format as .DXF files (which could be imported into GIS software).
Can someone verify that this works?

Finally, at the NOAA site they have a comment, "The Third Release,
planned for 1999, will in addition to further bathymetric updating,
contain a gridded version of the contours." But at the main site, in
the UK, I see no mention of the 3rd edition ever having been issued.
Any information on this?

Please see the web sites at:

thanks,
        Mark
