Dear Estefania,and all,
May all have a Happy New Year full of health, piece and love, for us and our families!
My name is Ifigenia Vardakosta and my research is focusing in the geospatial collections and GIS services in academic libraries https://hua.academia.edu/IfigeniaVardakosta, http://www.slideshare.net/IfiVar/edit_my_uploads
Mainly, I'm interested for the geospatial collection development policies.
I've written several articles in the field and now I'm in the middle of a research for the same subject for Europe and Australia.
I hope that the results of my research will help to the geospatial collection development in Greek academic libraries.
Undoubtedly, US, Canada, and Australia have a precedence in the development of such collections, however there are several institutions/universities/organizations that have developed some kind of geospatial collections and GIS services in Europe,
as far as I know for my research so far.
I find your question really interesting and the answers that the members of the list will give it
will be of a great interest of me, too.

Happy New Year!

Subject: GIS academic libraries in Europe

Hi all,

my name is Estefania Aguilar and I am lately focusing my research in the
level of development of spatial data and GIS services from academic
libraries in Spain, and I am looking for some help.

It seems that not just Spanish academic libraries, but also European, are
not putting enough resources to deploy this kind of services or at least
not at the same level of other countries. From what I have read (and was
written), most of the experiences have been developed in the States, Canada
or Australia, so I wondered if you know about any concrete experience -
regarding geospatial data and libraries - in Europe.

I guess that my other question has no answer, but... Do you know any
resource that talks about the volume of geograhic data, inside research
data numbers, generated by universitites?

I would be glad If we can find a thread for continuing our research.

Now that we all entered in 2015, I would also like to wish you a happy and
fruitful 2015!!

Thank you!!
