Belarusian and German military topographers to consider cooperation issues

Issues on cooperation in the area of military topography, geodesy and
cartography will be high on the agenda during a working meeting between
representatives of the Belarusian and German armed forces on October
11-12 in Germany.

According to the information given to BelTA in the defence ministry’s
press service, the aim of the visit is to get familiar with work of the
German geographic information department, to agree on the main spheres
of cooperation, to study topographic and navigation maintenance and
experience of applying modern geographic information and navigation
technologies in the military sector. Apart from that issues on training
specialists of the geographic information department and a possibility
of providing training of Belarusian specialists in Germany as well as
studying modern means of creating cartographical materials will be
discussed.

The Belarusian delegation will be headed by chief of the navigation and
topographic services of the armed forces of Belarus Colonel Grigoriy
Kobelev.

The event is held in line with the action plan of the international
military cooperation for 2005.
