Subject: historic gazetteers

Does anyone know some good web sites for historic US place names -
specifically the New England area? We are trying to locate some towns that
no longer exist and though some gazetteers from about the late 1700's and
early 1800's would work - especially the time of the War of 1812.

Thanks!
