Aloha Gretchen,

Go to the Western Association of Map Libraries (WAML) Toolbox webpage for a short list of vendors of archvial supplies:

http://www.waml.org/maptools.html#mappres

To that list I can also recommend Metal Edge, Inc. (www.metaledgeinc.com). We've ordered folders from them -10pt., buffered, acid-free, 36"x48" and 24"x36". Other sizes available.

Good luck on your map foldering.

Aloha,
Ross

We get them from Light Impressions. They are item number 7627, and the
URL is http://www.lightimpressionsdirect.com/servlet/OnlineShopping .

We've been using Hollinger map folders. See

Gretchen,

Go to the Western Association of Map Libraries' (WAML) website
http://www.waml.org/, click on the "Map Librarians Toolbox" link in the
middle of the page, then scan the topical index you come to. There are
map collection supply vendors for different things on this list and I'm
sure you can find one or more companies that supply archival map folders
(maybe under "Map Preservation Supplies").

I've had good luck with Conservation Resources International:

http://www.conservationresources.com/

Also, I've found the thinner folder paper works best for map folders - they
roll rather then bend, making them easier to work with in map drawers.

I am a fairly new gov't docs/maps librarian here at the University of
Northern Iowa. I need some help in identifying a good vendor to
purchase map folders from. No one around here has ordered map folders
for years and we just ran out. These are folders (like manila folders,
except for maps) that we use inside of the map drawers/cases to separate
and protect the maps. If you know of a vendor that supplies these type
of folders, please let me know.

Thanks,
Gretchen Gould
