...then there's that disturbing scene from the George Pal version of
'The Time Machine'  in which the Eloi take the Time Traveler to the
remnants of their great library, where all he finds are a pile of
self-playing children's history tales on optical discs and stacks full
of nothing but the ashes (acid paper, anyone?) of 50,000 years of lost
human culture, science, technology, literature and philosophy....
