Subject: Indian Map: Old and New Names

I am hoping the folks at MAPS-L can help me find some information for
one of my professors at the college.

This particular professor is looking for a map that shows both the old
and new names of Indian tribes in the U.S.

Her request below:

"I was wondering if you have a map that has the current [read:
traditional] names of the Native Nations of the United States, possibly
with the names the Colonizers had bestowed...

For example, the Hochunks have returned to using their traditional
name....the Colonizers named them the "Winnebago" but that is not the
name they had for themselves. As tribes are reclaiming their rightful
names, many students are confused in attempting to determine which name
goes with which tribe, and also what is a "language" name [referring to
an entire region who may share language traits] rather than a tribal name.

Does a map like that exist? "

Has anyone seen such a map? So far, I have been unable to find anything
like that.

Any help you could give me would be most appreciated.
