The article shared by Francis Herbert led me to explore resources
available through the web. I found a most interesting resource, CEPF
Madagascar Vegetation Mapping Project. This ran from 2003-2006, a shared
project of The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Missouri Botanical Garden,
and Conservation International’s Center for Applied Biodiversity
Science. The site’s address is http://www.vegmad.org/default.html. The
maps are still available in ‘sheets’ at original scale of 1:500,000. Pdf
copies are available for download. http://www.vegmad.org/pdfs.html Also
there is a single map at 1:8,000,000, at this page.
