The following announcement has been cross-posted to several lists.

Librarian II, Maps/Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services,
Government Documents & Maps, position number 84674, UHM Library Serv,
(Manoa), tenure track, full-time, general funds, available 09/06, pending
position clearance. Duties: Under the direction of the Head of Government
Documents & Maps, manages and develops the map, aerial photograph, and
geospatial data collections. Provides reference service for maps, aerial
photographs, geospatial data, and government documents, including some
evenings and weekends. Develops and delivers instruction programs related
to maps and geospatial data. Promotes use of maps, aerial photographs, and
geospatial data. Develops and maintains Government Documents & Maps
Department web pages. Performs cataloging of maps, aerial photographs, and
geospatial data sets. Serves as head of the Government Documents & Maps
Department on a rotating basis. Professional growth and service activities
in keeping with university and library requirements for retention, tenure,
and promotion are expected. Minimum qualifications: ALA accredited MLS or
international equivalent. Demonstrated ability to manage and develop
cartographic and geospatial data collections. Knowledge of geographic
information systems (e.g., ArcGIS) and digital spatial data and their
applications in libraries. Experience with GIS software such as ArcView.
Good oral and written communication skills in English. High degree of
computer literacy and knowledge of new technologies and their applications
in libraries. Desirable qualifications: Experience with an integrated
library system (e.g., Endeavor Voyager). Map cataloging experience.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and in teams.
Experience or coursework in developing and delivering instruction sessions
in the use of library resources. Knowledge of statistical sources and
government information resources. Knowledge of the geography and history
of Hawaii and the Pacific region. Pay range: Librarian II: $38,556-$57,078
