While using Social Explorer (www.socialexplorer.com
<http://www.socialexplorer.com>) I noticed on their website they have a
link to  the National Historical Geographic Information  System
(http://www.nhgis.org/) where you can download tract boundary files and
data from the 1940 census onward.
