        I'm sure there are many German Grids based on different geodetic
datums, but probably the most common grid system is based on UTM Zone 32 (6
to 12 degrees East) and Zone 33 (East of 12 degrees) based on the European
Datum 1950. In Germany the use of the Military Grid Reference designators
for the 100 kilometer UTM grid squares is common. Of course there are
conversions from this ED50 datum to WGS-84 and UTM systems based on WGS-84.
        One source is (Rudolph Blausch, 1989. Militargeographischer dienst
der Bundeswehr. Herausgeber: Leiter Militarisches Geowesen). An agency to
