I understand that the dioceses of titular bishops are defunct dioceses,
most of them in regions now in Muslim countries, and that the titular
bishop has no physical presence in that location. There may be a listing of
the current names of these places, but in sources I have used they are
often described rather vaguely, as "believed to be somewhere in Turkey"
