Subject: California soils map

I require some assistance from a California colleague. I have found on
World Cat a map called:
Generalizd soil map of California, by R. Earl Storie and Walter
W. Weir. Published 1989 by Pacific Gas and Electric Co. Scale
ca. 1:1,520,000.

The assistance I need is to get a copy of a portion of the map, probably
approximately the southern quarter of the map, or the area around and to
the east of Los Angeles extending into the Mojave Desert, and the legend.
I note that the soil zones are in color, so a color copy would be ideal.
But if the saturation and shading of tones shows adequately, or they are
lettered or numbered as well, black and white would be sufficient.

A graduate student wants to compare the vegetation zones in that part of
California, on some Indian-owned lands, on Kuchler's Natural vegetation of
California, to the counterpart soil zones on a similar scale of soil map.

Ken
