TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS OF LATVIA 1927
 
Topographic maps of Latvia at scale 1:75K.  Set consists of 88 sheets.
These maps were used by Latvian Army in 1927.  The maps were prepared on
basis of cartographic materials from 1911.
 
As known, until 1939 Latvia was an independent European state.  By
Stalin-Hitler agreement, Latvia was occupied by Soviet Army and stood in
Soviet Union up to 1991.  During Soviet period, roads and populated places
were reconstructed and historical names changed.  Maps of Latvian Army are
indisputable proof of borders and old geographical names.  These represent
value for both scientific purposes and for people searching for their
background and roots.  In 1991, in small circulation were produced facsimile
copies of these maps.  Copies contain all details including archive
indications preserved on originals.
