On my campus the aerial photo archive is housed and managed outside the
library, by a unit called Remote Sensing and GIS. So they operate
outside the library onus of service and access. The archive is only
acessible by appointment, free to the university community, but those
outside the university can access for $55 for the first hour, $30 for
each additional hour. Aerial photos can be checked out for $12 per
photo, $15 for each scan. If staff have to retrieve the photo, there is
a retrieval fee of $100 per location. Some non-profit groups may be
able to negotiate a waiver of fees. All the rules are listed at
http://www.rsgis.msu.edu/policies.htm

Hello All,

A question for the list members: Do any of you working at university
map
libraries charge a fee to private business patrons for paging aerial
photographs? This doesn't include a fee for scanning or a research fee
for identifying the appropriate photographs. This is similar to the
NARA
Archival Handling Fee that is charged to archives vendors and passed on
to
the customer.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

 John
