Subject: USGS warehouse RFI
Date: Thu, 3 Jun 2004 09:55:17 -0600 (MDT)
From: Thiry <[log in to unmask]>

------------------
All,

I went to the meeting held at USGS yesterday (June 2) in Denver, CO to
hear about
the plans to change the agencies warehouse distribution and product sales
(see
http://www2.eps.gov/spg/DOI/USGS/USGS/04HQ11%2DNoSolicitation/SynopsisR.html
from Federal Business Opportunities). I was the only librarian there,
but
there were several interested parties there, all private firms and GPO
(representative from Pueblo, CO). USGS announced that they had met with
the
Superintendent of Documents last week. Apparently the USGS wants to
basically
get rid of their warehouse in Denver, CO as they want to end their
distribution
of tangible items. They are looking for someone to take it over and have
put
out an RFI (request for information). They are hoping that they will get
back
useful ideas from the responses to the RFI (which is due July 2, 2004) so
that
they can construct a RFP by October 1, 2004.
