Thanks for sharing the cataloging core competencies. Yes, in 2008,
MAGERT Education Committee put together a comprehensive Map/GIS
Librarian Core Competencies document, which included a large section
on cataloging and metadata. See here:

Also, there is a MAGIRT task force currently working on updating it.
