This is the first volume of and open-ended unnumbered series of
cartographic studies to assemble a multi-volume historical atlas for
Quebec, from the beginning to present time. The contents for the whole is
not necessarily designed along chronological periods but rather thematic
approaches.

This volume is produced under the intellectual leadership of a
multidisciplinary research group within an inter-university historical
geography center (Universite Laval, Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres,
Universite du Quebec a Montreal) called Centre interuniversitaire d'etudes
quebecoise. More volumes are already in progress.

See what may happen when geographers revisit History in a spatial
analysis and multi-graphic approach. You will just be delighted!

Serge Courville published his INTRODUCTION A LA GEOGRAPHIE HISTORIQUE
(Presses de l'Universite Laval) last spring. His atlas illustrates his
methodological approach in scripto-graphic form.

I am certainly biaised but I can assure you that this atlas, fully
computer-produced, is a pretty good illustration of the trend towards
publication of printed multimedia atlases.
