I'm a newbie on the list. Please pardon me for hyping my library's web
site, but our Maps page at
http://library.nps.navy.mil/home/mapcollection.htm has links to both
Military Bases (2nd grouping under
http://library.nps.navy.mil/home/mapcollection.htm#military) and Regions
of Conflict (http://library.nps.navy.mil/home/mapcollection.htm#geo), as
well as Military Maps by time period. I hope this helps.

I am not sure these are what you want, but in the Library of Congress'
Map Collections, 1500-2003, under Military Battles and Campaigns,
Additional Military Battles and Campaigns Cartographic Items,
Europe/Germany, 1944-1945, there are 416 maps showing the troop
positions in Europe from June 6, 1945 to July 26, 1945. These are maps
that the High Command used during the War. Please look at
<http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/gmdhtml/milhome.html>.
