Hello. A colleague (without Internet, alas) has asked that I post this
request; we are looking for a source of US ZIP codes and corresponding
FIPS State/County codes. Although his request was for a specific ASCII
file containing only those two fields, I'd feel that's asking a bit too
much. Just a dataset that would have such fields on a nationwide
basis would be best (I'll massage the data to get what we need).

For the less informed, I know that zip codes in my area such as 37129
through 37133 correspond to a FIPS code of "47149", where "47" represents
Tennessee and "149" represents Rutherford County. And FIPS codes are core
components of the US Census data.

Mail replies are welcomed, although I'll also be watching MAPS-L as
well. I thought I recalled some discussion of this somewhere, perhaps
here or on Usenet, but I couldn't find anything in the saved-mail files.
Many thanx in advance!
