MSc: 12 months full-time Diploma: 9 months full-time

The Diploma and MSc courses have an integrated structure, with progress
from the Diploma to MSc depending on performance in class work and final
exams. The additional requirement for the MSc is an individual project,
undertaken in the months following the Diploma examinations. All the
courses have a considerable practical element in addition to lectures on
theory and applications.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Applicants for these courses should possess a
University Degree or equivalent qualification. However, applicants with
other qualifications will also be considered, especially if they possess
relevant industrial experience. Applicants are advised to have a suitable
background knowledge of mathematics. Experience in the use of computers
will be an advantage.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: These new courses are developments of the former
Diplomas and M.App.Sc. Degree given in this Department, which were highly
regarded by employers and professional bodies. Based on the experience
with these former postgraduate courses, graduates from the new Diplomas
and the M.Sc. will have a reasonably good prospect of obtaining employment
in the surveying, mapping and GIS industries.
