Cuba Education Tours has two trips to Cuba for educators. We want you to join us on the island and ask to share this invitation with your colleagues.

Both programs qualify for Americans to visit the island under U.S. travel regulations -- the only such Cuba travel opportunities currently available.

Our LIBRARIANS AND BIBLIOPHILES HAVANA BOOK FAIR TOUR takes place from February 14 to 21, 2009. While on the island participants will be special guests at Book Fair happenings. The event is the largest and most important in Latin America. You'll visit Cuban libraries, meet Cuban authors, and converse with members of writers and cultural organizations, and tour museums and schools all involved in the written word. This year's Book Fair theme is "To Read is to Grow."

Additional program highlights include a visit to the famed hand-made art book publisher Ediciones Vigia in Matanzas province, a tour of the Museum of Literacy dedicated to the 380,000 young women and men who volunteered to eliminate illiteracy in 1961, a private guided walking tour of the main historical sites of Old Havana, an intimate look at the University of Havana where you'll meet with professors and students to better understand Cuba's education system, and a chance to explore the largest collection of colonial-era architecture in the Americas and inspect restoration and preservation efforts.

Cultural components feature private salsa, cha cha cha, and rumba dance lessons by Cuban pros, a community sponsored block party for teachers, librarians and book lovers, an afternoon for reflection and relaxation on the world-famed beaches of Varadero, a group dinner at the renowned restaurant "La Guarida" where the Cuban blockbuster "Strawberry and Chocolate" was filmed, attendance at a regal cannon firing ceremony dating from 1519, and a week of evenings to enjoy venues where the best Cuban music is performed.

You'll witness island history and cultural while staying in the historic five-star Hotel Habana Libre, providing a luxurious respite during your action packed itinerary.

Tour costs, registration and legal travel information is detailed at:

Our TEACHERS INTRODUCTION TO CUBA TOUR travels from March 15 to 22, 2009. The program is limited in size and always fills to capacity several months in advance. It has become an annual Spring Break learning sojourn for North American educators. Hundreds of teachers have joined over the years. Members of the delegation are held in high regard by the Cubans reflecting their 50 years national priority to free quality education and the teachers who make it happen.

While on the tour, teachers (including spouses) gain an intimate knowledge of the Cuban school system that is heralded globally for its innovation, quality and effectiveness.

On this trip participants will learn Cuban dance from private tutors, enjoy hot Latin jazz, meet with urban planners, visit schools and teachers union leaders, meet university professors and artists. You'll also explore Afrocuban culture, visit farms and jungles, and make new friends in Cuba and amongst tour mates.

The itinerary is rich with educational and cultural activities exclusive to members of this tour. As with the Librarians program, teachers stay in the Havana Libre -- its facilities, services and food considered tops on the island.
