Subject: Collection Development for GIS Datasets

I have been asked to consider purchasing some additional GIS datasets
for our library. We have the basics such as the Digital Chart of the
World, most of the Geolytics products, orthophotoquads for our state, and
the free stuff that is available via the depository library program and on
the Internet. I have received very few requests from faculty or students
for the purchase of additional data.

I would like to put together for my own use (and possibly that of
others) a list of important GIS datasets that are NOT free, and which would
be widely useful to social scientists or natural scientists in academic
settings. Any suggestions? I will summarize responses.
