All,

I was watching "True Glory" last night--a documentary filmed by the Allies
during WWII (interesting footage). One of the people interviewed at the
time complained that Patton's army ran off the maps during the summer of
1944. The man complained that the army did this twice, so eventually they
had to air drop 10 TONS of maps to the forces just to keep up with them.
He ended by saying, "I'll be glad to get back to the Library of Congress
where maps have some permanent value."
