Another comment on the Columbia exhibit.
 
Could the maps in the exhibit be scanned for publication ion a CD-ROM.
The technology is getting cheaper by the year, and given the reviews of
Microsoft's CD-ROM containing approximately 2000 paintings, the exhibit
and its value to map historians would be greatly magnified.  The limits
of geography (time and space) would be overcome and the works shared
more widely.
 
If not possible, is there a possibility that some aspect of the display
could be shared via network - as suggested?
