His Royal Highness the Prince of Orange Tuesday 12 March in the Indian
Room in Palace Noordeinde scientific atlas received. The atlas contains
the entire legacy of hand-drawn maps, plans and topographic images of
the fields of the Dutch East India Company (1602-1799) and the West
India Company (1621-1791).
The atlas consists of nine parts and was created by a collaboration
between the Royal Dutch Geographical Society (KNAG), the National
Archives, the research URU Explokart of Utrecht University and
Publishing Asia Maior / Atlas Maior. Using authentic seventeenth-and
eighteenth-century maps and imagery provides an overview of the areas
covered by the patent at the time of the VOC and WIC fell. From 2006,
the atlas worked. Published every year there are one or several parts.
With the ninth part, the atlas now complete.

Zijne Koninklijke Hoogheid de Prins van Oranje heeft dinsdagmiddag 12
maart in de Indische Zaal in Paleis Noordeinde een wetenschappelijke
atlas in ontvangst genomen. De atlas bevat de complete nalatenschap aan
handgetekende kaarten, plattegronden en topografische afbeeldingen van
de gebieden van de Verenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (1602-1799) en de
West-Indische Compagnie (1621-1791).
De atlas bestaat uit negen delen en is tot stand gekomen door een
samenwerking tussen het Koninklijk Nederlands Aardrijkskundig
Genootschap (KNAG), het Nationaal Archief, het onderzoeksprogramma URU
Explokart van de Universiteit Utrecht en Uitgeverij Asia Maior/Atlas
Maior. Aan de hand van authentiek zeventiende- en achttiende-eeuws
kaarten- en beeldmateriaal wordt een overzicht gegeven van de gebieden
die destijds onder het octrooi van de VOC en WIC vielen. Vanaf 2006 is
er aan de atlas gewerkt. Ieder jaar verschenen er één of meerdere delen.
Met het negende deel is de atlas nu compleet.
