I showed Debra's message about the NSF speaker to an advisor in UWa's
computer science program. It seems that, in the state of Washington, it
doesn't matter whether you're male or female..... all applications,
statements, proposals are supposed to be "gender-blind." She also was
doubtful about Lewis' estimate that 45% of CS grads will be women by 2000.
This year there were only two women in the incoming CS group here!

But looking beyond the race and gender stuff -- I think its great that NSF
is talking about things like information infrastructure!!! Libraries can
be a HOT topic!!
