NEW ZEALAND MAP SOCIETY SEMINAR, FEBRUARY 1997

This message has already been posted to MAPHIST

Anyone travelling "down under" to the Australian Map Circle 1997
Conference in Melbourne may like to journey on to Auckland to attend
the 20th annual seminar of the New Zealand Map Society. The seminar
is being held on 11-13 February, at Helensville, a small town about
50km northwest of Auckland. Helensville is noted for its hot
thermal pools and the adjacent Kaipara Harbour. The programme for
the seminar is still being drawn up, and if anyone is interested in
presenting a paper - on any aspect of map keeping, map production, or
cartographic history - we would be delighted to hear from them.
Motel and backpacker type accommodation is available at Helensville,
and will be arranged by the organising committee. Further
information is available from Brian Marshall.

The New Zealand Map Society brings together people and organisations
who are interested in a wide range of aspects concewrning map making
and the use and conservation of all forms of catographic materials.
We have held annual seminars for 20 years now, and they tend to be
informal but lively affairs.
