Subject: Encapsulate

Folks,

I am fairly new to the map preservation/use field so would like some
advice as to the current view on when & if maps should be encapsulated.

The collection I am considering are older topographic maps.

I remember reading someplace that encapsulation was no longer thought to
be the best idea but have no idea where that was.

If there is a particularly relevant artile I could read that would be fine
also.

Thanks for the help.
