HelenJane Armstrong asked me to share what I found. Thanks to Russell Guy
at Omni, who suggested that I check the Mapa de cuencas de la República de
Guatemala ... (which includes watershed boundaries). Most maps of Guatemala
include Belize.

I also found a couple of great resources under Odden's Bookmarks --
Environmental Atlas of Belize (
http://www.mbr-pwrc.usgs.gov/geotech/cindi/belize/index.html) which includes
satellite images and the World Bank Map can map out watersheds besides
several other variables --

I found a book in GeoRef:
Water resources areal appraisal; Belize.
U. S. Army, Topographic Engineering Center, Terrain Analysis Center,
Alexandria, VA, United States
Pages C1-C53. 1997, includes hydrologic maps.

In addition, Darius Bartlett sent a message: If you don't get any joy
Stateside, try sending a note to the Geography Department at Edinburgh
University, Scotland. They have had many years of
close involvement in Belize, including a lot of GIS and remote sensing work
there. They used to have very extensive databases and digital map resources
covering the country. You should find up-to-date contact details on the
department's website (http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk).

David Gray, of the GIS unit at the World Bank in Washington, used to be an
Edinburgh postgrad and worked a lot on the Belize projects. He may also have
some ideas. Unfortunately I don't have contact details but again you should
be able to track him down via the Web.

Subject: Belize Satellite or Groundwater map

Hi:

I have a grad student in American Indian Studies who is looking for a
satellite image, a groundwater map, or water shed map of Belize. Couldn't
find anything in our maps/atlases, I tried looking in GeoRef and Water
Resources but they only index a specific area. She wants the entire
country. I also checked out Mexico in case they included Belize but no such
luck. Anyone know of such a map?

Thanks

Chris Kollen
