I am seeking a position as curator of maps, map librarian, or
librarian in a rare book collection with a strong cartographic
content. I recently completed an MLS at Pratt Institute with the
purpose of preparing for a career shift from demography to map
librarianship. The program at Pratt included instruction in
preservation and conservation. I worked in the Rare Book and
Manuscript Library, Butler Library, at Columbia University as a
practicum, and also was (briefly) a voluntary intern at the Map
Division of the New York Public Library.

In addition to completing the MLS, I have written and published
on the history of map printing and on bibliographic topics, and
          have several other related accomplishments:

In 1994, as guest curator, I organized an exhibition of early
maps and atlases at the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at
Columbia University: The world on paper: A celebration of the
             mapmaker's art.

A paper, "The maps of the Society for the Diffusion of Useful
Knowledge: A publishing history," published in Imago Mundi
             Vol. 46, 1994.

A paper, "Unrecorded maps of the world and four continents by
Morden," published in The Map Collector No. 57, Winter 1991.

Several research awards, including a Bibliographic Society of
America Fellowship, 1993-94; Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship,
Huntington Library, 1993-94; and J. B. Harley Research
Fellowship in the History of Cartography, 1994.

I have an active research agenda concerning the Society for the
Diffusion of Useful Knowledge and the 19th century London map and
book trade and have several other bibliographic research
          interests.

If you know of any positions that I might be qualified for, or
would like to know more about my background and qualifications,
please contact me at the following e-mail or snail mail address.
I will be pleased to provide a full resume and references on
          request.
