Subject: national list/shapefile of quadnames?

I'm stumped on this, but I fear that I'm missing something really obvious.

I am looking for a list of the sheetnames for the 1:250,000 set of USGS
topographic sheets. A shapefile would do, since it's easy to get a list
out of it. While we're at it, does anyone have a source for the
30'/1:100,000 grid+sheetnames as well?

Many states (my own included) have shapefiles up for
the 7.5', 30' and 1x2degree (that's the 1:250k), but only for that
individual states:

I'm looking for the entire lower 48. I can display it in the National Map,
but it's not offered for download.
