[Apologies for cross-posting.]

Do you work with maps, GIS or other cartographic materials? Do you have publishing requirements to
fulfill, or an urge to tell your peers what you're up to? If so, here's a great opportunity!

The fall, 2006 issue of "DttP: Documents to the People," the official publication of ALA's
Government Documents Round Table (GODORT), will be dedicated to projects, services or initiatives
related to maps and cartographic resources. John Lawton and I are guest editors for this issue, and
we're now seeking proposals/ideas. If you're interested in submitting a piece, here's the deal:

Articles should be 1800-2000 words and be related to some aspect of map librarianship, including:

* print resources
* geographic information systems (GIS)
* aerial photos and remote sensing imagery
* geospatial data
* digital mapping
* map scanning and digitization
* cataloging and bibliographic initiatives
* instruction and outreach
* access [or lack thereof]
* government distribution of cartographic resources
* collection management
* staffing
* collection use
* future issues in map librarianship

Articles should describe the project or service (i.e., give the "who, what, where, when, why and
how"), and indicate a connection to the distribution and use of government documents.

Feel free to contact me [Michael Fry, University of Maryland ([log in to unmask])] or John [John Lawton,
University of Minnesota ([log in to unmask])] with questions. One-page proposals are due June 30,
2006; final manuscripts will be due September 5.

For more information about DttP (including editorial requirements), see
http://www.ala.org/ala/godort/dttp/aboutdttp.htm.

Hope to hear from you!
