After two years in the making, we are finally able to present to the map
and documents community this internet site:

        http://geolibrary.uidaho.edu/

The Idaho Geospatial Data Center is a digital library for public-domain
geographic data of Idaho that is accessible free-of-charge to any group or
person in or outside of the state. This central data repository is shared
over the Internet to save time, money, and computer resources.

Idaho Geospatial Data Center (IGDC) was created by the collaborative
research team from the University of Idaho ( Department of Geography and
the UI Library), the Lewis Clark State College (LCSC), and the Idaho
Geological Survey. This research project was funded by a major grant from
the Idaho Board of Education's Technology Incentive Program.

The infrastructure is comprised of the GeoLibrary software that allows
access and retrieves all Digital Line Graphs (DLGs), Digital Raster
Graphics (DRGs), Digital Elevation Models (DEMs), and Tiger boundary files
for the state of Idaho, and a detailed tutorial to assist the public to
access the data. Additionally the site provides interactive links
to other Idaho and national spatial data repositories.

Project Participants include: Dr. Piotr Jankowski, an associate professor
in the Geography Department, University Of Idaho, Lily Wai, Head of
Government Documents, Maria Jankowska, Network Resources Librarian, at the
University of Idaho Library, Loudon Stanford, Production Manager/Geologist
at the Idaho Geological Survey, and Dr. William Heins, Assistant Professor
in Division of Natural Sciences at the Lewis & Clark State College in
Lewiston, Idaho.

Please send in your comments and questions via the Web site.
