Subject: Call numbers for Michelin series
Sender: Ken Grabach <[log in to unmask]>

A map cataloguing question.

I have recently discovered the series records in OCLC for several of the
Michelin map series, particularly the <S'erie jaune> for France, and
related series for other countries. My question is:

How are libraries that use the series records numbering them in your call
numbers for the individual sheets? Do you make up a part number, e.g.
pt.1- x, or do you use the publisher's assigned series number, as 231 for
Normandie or 237 for Ile de France? Also, do you incorporate the
publication date of the sheet you have into the part or series number?
