As David Bigwood noted in an earlier message, there's a discussion paper
of interest to the cartographic community. Discussion Paper 2004-DP02
concerns changing the 752 field (Added Entry - Hierachical Place). Right
now, this field has been used primarily for newspapers, although some
libraries are using it to for other resources. The discussion paper
raises some questions that will be explored at the MARBI meeting on
Sunday, Jan. 11th.

A proposal that may be of interest to the rare maps catalogers is
Proposal 2004-01, which would make subfields e, f, and g repeatable in
field 260. There are times when multiple manufacturers had a role to
play in the printing of a book or map and currently only one
manufacturer can appear in the 260 field. Others involved appear in a
note. By making the subfields repeatable, all can be recorded in the 260
field.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to contact me. I'll let
you know the results after ALA Midwinter.
