Apologies for cross-posting.

We are pleased to announce that the Map Curators’ Group (MCG) of the
British Cartographic Society will hold its Annual Workshop in Leeds,
England, on Wednesday 29th and Thursday 30th August 2012.

   The theme will be *“The customer and the map curator, or, the
importance of being relevant”*.

   The organisers are calling for proposals for presentations to be given
at the Workshop, on the following themes:

   * Creating customer-focussed acquisitions/selection policies (for
     paper and digital maps)
   * Using library metrics to assess collection usage
   * Widening access
   * Delivering user education – workshops/ online tutorials etc.
   * Assessing user satisfaction – surveys/mystery visits
   * The customer as advocate (e.g. Friends of the map library, or
     sponsor-a-map/manuscript schemes)

or any other topic relevant to the subject.

Those people making presentations at the Workshop will be given free
registration to the event and one night’s accommodation in Leeds if
required.

Generally, presentations are made using PowerPoint, and should last
approximately 30 minutes. Talks will take place on Wednesday 29^th
August 2012.

Please contact the MCG Convener, Ann Sutherland or other organiser
(listed below) with your proposal for consideration, by Monday 26^th
March 2012.
