*Call for Papers**
*(Abstracts deadline: Jan 21, 2008)

*GEOBIA 2008 - Pixels, Objects, Intelligence:
Geographic Object Based Image Analysis for the 21St Century*

2nd International Conference on Geographic Object-Based Image Analysis
University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, August 6-7, 2008, Workshops
August 4-5, 8-9 2008

*GEOBIA* is a recent sub-discipline of GIScience devoted to developing
automated methods to partition remote sensing imagery into meaningful,
geographically based image-objects, and assessing their characteristics
through spatial, spectral and temporal scales. Applications range from
agriculture and natural resource management, to national defense and
global climate change. Its economic impact spans from data collection,
hardware and software vendors, developers and users, to recipients of
sound sustainable environmental policy.

*Call for Papers: *You are invited to submit an abstract of up to _350
words_ *before January 21, 2008* through the GEOBIA, 2008 conference
on-line system. Abstracts must be written in English, follow the ISPRS
Archives style guide and report methods and results. Accepted abstracts
will be invited for a full paper in the conference proceedings, and
select papers will be invited for submission to a GEOBIA _Special Issue_
of Photogrammetric Engineering and Remote Sensing (PE&RS) for
publication in 2009. Please visit the Conference website for more
information.
