Dear colleagues:

I'd like to direct your attention to an article in today's edition of
Investor's Business Daily, p. 7 (which includes some nice map graphics) or
to the website (sans graphics):
http://www.investors.com/editorial/tech.asp?v=9/27

Some of you may not be aware that there was a temporary restriction on the
dissemination of some public-domain US military mapping data, both in
terms of databases found on NIMA's website (www.nima.mil), NIMA and
predecessor-agency paper and digital maps located at the Library of
Congress and at NARA, and the same type of maps and data as distributed
via the USGS to the general public and to agents (of which EVC is one).
Most of the restrictions are apparently being removed. In any event, we
here at EVP have fielded lots of calls from reporters in the past few days
about this, and today's article is the first such published story to my
knowledge.

Best regards,

Kent D. Lee
