Subject: Fwd: Forest Service Topos [Incident: 140407-000105]

I sent an email to GPO about a United States Forest Service topo maps website (see message at bottom of email) that is available online. Below is their response.

Good afternoon Carlos Diaz,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. These do not appear to have Interior designations on them, and so they will probably be assigned an Agriculture class. Please allow some time for further research and processing.

Dear askGPO,

While perusing through the Forest Service website for the Pacific Northwest Region, I noticed that the Forest Service (FS) has a website for their topographic maps for the national forest at:

http://fsgeodata.fs.fed.us/rastergateway/states-regions/regions.php

I recall that a number of years ago, they and the USGS published their own maps but then the USGS contracted with the FS and they published the maps for the USGS.

I also recall that the SuDocs remained as
I 19.81: but with a cutter number for the name of the national forest.

Would these maps (FSTopos) continue as
I 19.81: national forest cutter number or as their own thing as an A 13?

Any help you can give me would be most appreciated.
