Carlos,

You don't specifically mention what kind of things you (actually, your
dean) wants to benchmark against. I'm assuming (and forgive me if I'm
totally wrong!) it is things related to the operations of a map/GIS
collection? If so, let me share an important document that MAGIRT pulled
together a few years ago (2008 -- time flies!) that we are discussing
revising and updating right now that might be helpful:

http://www.ala.org/magirt/sites/ala.org.magirt/files/content/publicationsab/MAGERTCoreComp2008.pdf

This MAGERT (now MAGIRT) Core Competencies document is also posted
somewhere on ALA's website with other similar core competencies for the
profession documents (or at least it used to be, I haven't gone to look
in a long time).

Hopefully this helps? Otherwise, would you mind being a little more
specific so folks on the list can assist?

Thanks,

Paige

I am hoping the good folks at DOCTECH-L, GOVDOC-L, and MAPS-L can help
us out in finding some bit of information.

Our library dean has asked each department of our library to research
best practices, policies and procedures, and benchmarks for similar
institutions as ours. Right now, we are willing to look at anything that
anyone has available.

If you have a report or manual that you are willing to share, please
send us what you have. We will be forever grateful.
