Hello,
Maybe this will assist you in making a decision. The following is a job
add from Lockheed Martin requesting skill in using the light table.

communicate directly with audiences at all levels of management
High initiative and organization skills
Specific Job Description The Analyst will research the appropriate
databases for amplifying information, producing standard imagery
analysis products, and effectively collaborating with other analysts for
research, analysis, and product generation processes. Provide imagery
analysis using a variety of sources including locating, identifying,
characterizing, and monitoring areas of interest. These services will
also support the creation of a variety of media and collateral imagery
products such as data sets, ground truth, and briefing materials
supporting various geospatial research projects. Provide services
supporting the identification of technology gaps in capabilities and
processes, and support the insertion of new imagery related technology
into the operational environment. Perform quality control on analytical
products, provide collaboration with the customer workforce on lending
edge imagery analysis technologies, and provide expert advice on
technical matters related to imagery information. Utilize various
databases of imagery analysis formats and databases to accomplish its

light tables, which are regularly used to provide imagery analysis
services in the form of datasets and visualization products that result
in the creation of standard, coordinated intelligence reports.
Additionally, the Imagery Analyst will provide imagery analysis services
that result in the creation of standard, non-coordinated products.
Standard Job Description Assess, integrate, manipulate, exploit, extract
and analyze digital imagery, geospatial databases, and various sources.
Use remote sensing, spatial analysis, and Geographic Information Systems
(GIS) skills to construct multi-source geospatial intelligence
databases. Perform complex finishing cartographer activities and quality
assurance using GIS Commercial software experience involving both manual
and automated processes.

I find use of the light table to be another skill that is personally
helpful. My educational experience has been that I learned to use the
light table as a geologist in the early 90's, and continued to use it as
a professional in the field. Recently returning for a second Masters in
Geography, 2010, I was not required or taught to employ the light table.
