CALL FOR PAPERS:
1ST BALKAN GEOPHYSICAL CONGRESS & TECHNICAL EXHIBITION
23-27 SEPTEMBER 1996, ATHENS, GREECE

TECHNICAL PROGRAMME
The technical programme will consist of oral and poster presentation, covering
the whole field of Exploration, Production and Engineering Geophysics,
Seismology, ranging from data acquisition through data processing to
interpretation.
Contributions in the form of case histories illustrating the practical use of
geophysical techniques are especially welcome.
An oral paper will be allocated 20 minutes for the speaker' s presentation,
using slides and/or viewgraphs followed by 5 minutes discussion.
A poster paper consists of a graphical presentation, displayed on units 0.95m
wide and 1.94m high, explanations by the author, and discussion. Poster papers
offer an excellent opportunity to show complex results, such as a seismic
sections, maps and illustrations, which need detailed explanations, difficult
to present orally or on slides.
Poster papers will be assigned to specific poster sessions and will present
during a major part of the Congress. Authors are obliged to be present during
their session, which will not exceed one half-day period.
A special desk will be available throughout the Congress for delegates to
arrange further appointments with authors. Care will be taken to avoid
concurrent oral and poster sessions on the same topics.
Papers accepted as oral presentations and poster presentations will be regarded
as having equal standing.

GENERAL
Two 5x5cm slide projectors and two overhead projectors are available in each
lecture hall.
Times in the technical programme will be strictly observed.
The Organizing Committee will notify the authors by the end of July 1996

guidelines for the preparation of oral and poster papers. Copies of the
programme will be sent to all members of the BGS and to speakers who have
indicated that they are not members.
The BGS cannot make any contributions toward coverage of expenses relating to
the presentation of the paper.
